Nap Was Never in Doubt...

With the recent influx of design and pMachine implementation requests I've been receiving,...that plus the fact I could no longer stand to see a perfectly good hard drive go to waste and suffer with a 28.8 Kbps internet connection... I decided I'd install a web development server on my Windows XP box. I know, I know. Install Linux and forget it,...there's still room on the drive ;-). Anybody got a spare copy of Mandrake or RedHat laying around?...see internet connection..., but I figured the Windows install would be a better experience builder.

As I was searching around for all the software I thought necessary; Apache Server, Perl, PHP, MySQL, phpBB; I stumbled upon what turned out to be an excellent tutorial on the very project I was pursuing, Setting up a Home Development Server by Andrew Holt over at WebDev Tips. The trial and error phase of my usual installs was completely non-existent. The comprehensive guide and subsequent testing of each installation made easy execution...so much for that experience building...

With all the time I saved, I was able to load my sites, get in an extra session of trading, get a head start on my OOD project, and take a nice long nap...of course, the nap was never dependent on my saving time...

Carnival of the Vanities Bowl XLVIII - Cowboy Style

This week's Carnival of the Vanities is being hosted at Outside the Beltway. Some excellent stuff. Good for a few hours reading...on dial-up, anyway...
